Leaders from the three Ukambani counties of Kitui, Machakos and Makueni held a major gathering.
The gathering of Ukambani leaders follows a similar meeting with leaders from Kitui county two weeks ago at State House, Nairobi ahead of Uhuru’s visit to ukambani.
President Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto, together with a number of Cabinet Secretaries, first held a meeting with elected leaders from Ukambani before joining the thousands of other leaders for an all-inclusive meeting at the State House gardens
A statement wired to newsrooms in Nairobi claims that 10,000 Kamba leaders and professionals are meeting at the State House gardens in Nairobi.
A part of the strategy to reach out to Kalonzo has been through the region’s politicians who are loyal to Wiper Democratic Party.
On his first meeting in Kitui, Uhuru met Kalonzo’s close ally David Musila and the second meeting was led by Joe Mutambo and comprised Machakos town’s Victor Munyaka and Regina Ndambuki from Makueni.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has been working closely with Jubilee coalition.
